About Vector
Tech coverage for people who actually use it.
Vector is an independent publication about the technology that shapes everyday life — the phones in our pockets, the software we work in and the ideas that will decide what comes next.
We explain before we opine, we test before we recommend, and we tell you when something isn’t worth your money. Nobody can pay for a review or a better score.
How we review
Every product lives with one of our editors for at least two weeks as part of their daily routine. We run the same battery, performance and display tests on everything in a category, so scores are comparable.
Products scoring 8.5 or higher that stand out from their rivals can earn our Editor’s Choice award: the things we would buy with our own money.
- 9.0–10ExceptionalBest in class, with no meaningful compromises.
- 8.0–8.9ExcellentA great buy that we recommend without hesitation.
- 7.0–7.9GoodWorth considering, but know the trade-offs first.
- 6.0–6.9FairFine for some people; better options usually exist.
- Below 6Skip itSerious problems. Spend your money elsewhere.
Our team
The editors and reporters behind every story.

Claire Donovan
Editor-in-Chief
Claire has covered the technology industry for fifteen years, from the first app stores to the AI boom. She sets Vector’s editorial direction and still reviews one laptop a year to keep herself honest.

Daniel Reyes
Reviews Editor
Daniel runs Vector’s testing lab and has reviewed more than 400 devices. He believes every battery-life claim should come with a sworn affidavit.

Amara Okafor
AI Correspondent
Amara reports on artificial intelligence: the research, the business and the people it affects. She trained as a data scientist and is based in London.

Hana Sato
Senior Mobile Writer
Hana covers phones, watches and cameras. Before joining Vector she spent six years as a mobile engineer, which makes her very hard to impress.

Sofia Marchetti
Audio & Home Editor
Sofia tests headphones, speakers and smart-home gear from a flat that is now more hub than home. She studied acoustic engineering in Milan.

Kwame Asante
Security Reporter
Kwame covers privacy, security and the policy fights around both. He has never reused a password, and he will tell you about it.

Rafael Mendoza
Gaming & Culture Writer
Rafael writes about games, the hardware they run on and the communities that grow around them. His handheld collection has its own shelf.
